HP 35 red dot

#12

I have a "red dot" but it has not the early major ROM bug... It's Nr. 1143A03541, so I'm not sure, if it's a fake or not.. Can you send me different pictures of the "red dot"-area, as cloth as possible.. I just know the museum-picture..

Thanks

My understanding is that HP upgraded 35's with the ROM bug for anyone who asked. My type 2 has the bug, I guess the original owner didn't ask!

I finally checked my red-dot 35 (s/n 1143A032xx) for the bugs and found the results in the last column.

Function Buggy Correct "my" bugs

e^ ln 2.02 2. 2.02 2.

ARC SIN 0.0002 5.729577893 x 10E-3 0.01145916 3.4906 x 10E-6

ARC COS 0.0002 89.99427042 89.98854 1.

ARC TAN 0.0002 5.729577893 x 10E-3 0.01145916 3.4906 x 10E-6

ARC TAN 1.00020002 45. 45.00573 0.174585569

The third and fifth results are the most disconcerting ones...

Are these known results from an early rom?

massimo; i have your bugs except that i get a 0.017etc on the last one. it seems to be going around. my serial # is 1143A01669 but i don't have a red dot.

#16

So you have an earlier s/n than mine but no red dot?
Sounds strange to me...

I will check my results this evening, maybe I simply overlooked a 0 somewhere. :)

Thanks,
Massimo

You're right db: I missed a 0!

Last line from my previous post should read:

Function Buggy Correct "my" bugs
ARC TAN 1.00020002 45. 45.00573 0.0174585569

a) i checked and my 35 is dirty but not so dirty as to hide the coveted red dot. dam. i love it anyway.

b) i'm not completly right; i thought that maybe i had another edition of bug. fortunatly for us these things only seem to crop up in angles much smaller than we ususlly use, or we can use the complimentary function. but anyway - as r. crumb used to say: what's it all mean, mr. natural?

c)what part of the old country are you in? my grandfather came from the po valley up towards france. close enough in fact so that there are french people who say their name like mine but spell it wrong.

Oh, those pores get dirty! You could try a little Clearasil... who knows? ;)

Yes, I think I would never use those particular angles but they may pop up from intermediate results.

I can't get the meaning of the quote: Robert Crumb is a cartoonist and Mr. Natural is one of his characters, right?

c)what part of the old country are you in? my grandfather came from the po valley up towards france. close enough in fact so that there are french people who say their name like mine but spell it wrong.

I'm in Milan, near the top, Po valley.
French people like to use accents in excess: as you cross the border you are given some free to add to the end of your name. :)

massimo;
re: b) yes, thats the same mr. natural (beard down to his shoes, holder of the keys of knowledge etc.) he had the short version of the answer for all life's questions. other cartoon characters used to ask him "whats it....." i guess the answer here is that by the time of the next release hp got it right. anyway, like i think you were getting at; thoes intermediate results would matter in a program but on a 35 we are in control.

re: c) they did worse than add an accent to my name. they took belillo and made belilEAU. can you believe it? and besides that, they make bad wine too.

I asked the seller of my red dot, and he said that he was the firt owner, who paid $395 in 1972. He rememders that there was a recall for the ROM bug, and he thinks, he toke the chance...sniff..
