OT: uWatch firmware v1.6.0 Released!

#9

A treat for uWatch fans, a completely new version is released today. We've been testing it for a couple of weeks and hopefully there are no (serious) bugs. I'm hoping this is a pretty good version.

Lots of new features have been added such as:

* completely re-written menu system with custom characters.
* new calculator functions (nPr, nCr, Stats, bin ops)
* new constants and conversions.
* apps like: Factorise, Quadratic, Stopwatch, Mini Calendar.
* Games: Chess, 21 and Lunar Lander.
* number bases: Dec, Hex, Oct, Binary (with scrolling windows).

picture of the time display (uWatch looking a bit beat up :-) )

Picture of the chess board (you scroll up and down with the right column keys).

Get yours now from sourceforge including source code:

Enjoy!

Awesome work guys!

All that in 64KB FLASH, 8KB SRAM, a 16x2 character LCD, and a paltry keypad - incredible!

Dave.

The latest manual can be found at

uWatch User Guide - Latest Version

I've been working on this for a few days or so, so it's changing quite rapidly at the moment. It's about half done, but even now gives a pretty good idea of the capability of the watch and systems... if you don't have one of these things, I can *highly* recommend a purchase.

The above is a composite of the chess board display. For just 8 custom-characters (one of which is the arrow), only *5* pixels wide, it's nothing short of awesome... and very usable on the watch. Interestingly, the LCD doesn't have more than one colour/shade -- the white pieces are done by drawing/undrawing the pieces very rapidly and relying on the LCD fading characteristics to give the effect.

Cheers
A

Gotta be a world first surely?!

I wonder how it's going to look on the uWatch2 128x64 display?

Dave.

I just had to post this jpeg from a couple of years ago. It is a picture of my Abacus AU5007 running HandChess II.

Obviously, I am really interested in your uWatch2! :-)

Nice work as usual Andrew. Will you be including instruction for updating, etc?

Yes. The instructions for updating are included in the latest manual. The uWatch now handles "squashed", engineering, fixed-point, and scientific notation... and optionally display of units in SI notation (i.e.: 12345 is displayed as 12.345k). It handles bases 2, 8, 16, and of course 10... and I have also added bit shifting operations.
