Start EMU48 instead of calc.exe in XP - possible?

Is it possible to start EMU48 instead of calc.exe on a Windows machine? I know I can just double-click on EMU48 to start it ;-) but this is not what I mean. I want to be able to start EMU48 from a dedicated calculator button on my keyboard.

You need to know what this button exactly does. If it goes to the desktop and opens a program object (link) you can simply modify this link to point to EMU48. Did you install a custom driver for your keyboard?

Unfortunately, there was no custom driver installed for the keyboard. And I have no way to configure the keys. It seems as if the dedicated calc-key only starts the Windows calc.exe. Other keys will start my favorite Firefox browser or my Thunderbird email, which I defined as standard applications. I'm looking for a way to define another calculator program as the XP standard calculator...

Renaming calc.exe is not possible, it is always replaced with the original calc.exe. At least I have found no way to change this.

I think it could help if you specified the model of your keyboard, as somebody might be familiar with it.

It's unusual for an "internet keyboard" not to have a special driver, which usually would allow customizing the extra keys.

Thanks everybody for helping and sharing your ideas. It turns out that there was no special driver application in the box but one was downloadable from the manufacturer's well hidden website. Now I can configure most of the keys to my heart's content.

You can likely just rename EMU48 as calc.exe and put it into the windows directory. Move the old calc.exe somewhere else or delete it. Support files will need moving too.
Unless there is something strict with paths in the installtion it should work.
But most keyboard drivers can be programmed to change what the macro keys point to.

Sorry, that's wrong. The Emu48 install path must point to the directory with the support files (KML, bitmaps, ROM images, ...), the Emu48.exe file itself can be located everywhere.

I use Free42 on my desktop, and get to it very quickly (with my generic keyboard) by having defined <ctrl> <alt> <C> as the shortcut key combination for the program. Having to press three keys simultaneously, rather than just one, is only very slightly more trouble. Obviously something similar could be done with EMU48.
