I've seen initials and other notations on most classics, especially those with ceramic packages. Most pre-1990'ish Voyagers have initials of the final assembler under one of the foot pads.

this is a manufacturer mark, added to the finalized layout by the PCB manufacturer (so you could track down faulty parts); it's nothing personal :) ▼
