Hi,

Fear not....the 2009 calendar will be going to the printer this month and announced as soon as it is ready. It is a 12-month calendar (rather than 16 months like last time), due to extenuating circumstances which prevented its development over the Summer months (when we really wanted to do it). If we had had the time we would have liked, it would have had a completely different theme from the HHC2007 version. Unfortunately due to the delay, we opted to retain the monthly images from last year, with at least one update to each and every page. The HHC2008 attendees' conference dues paid for their copies and some additional ones will be available for sale for a reasonable price. (A new printer has been located who is offering costs a bit cheaper than last time, with similar quality.) Some of the "minor" adjustments include switching the dimensions from A4 to 8-1/2 by 11 and lowering the title text so the drill hole doesn't obscure anything. Every image had to be adjusted due to the dimensions changing, but the dpi resolution has been maintained....they were 3072 by 2126 last time and are 2898 by 2239 this time. The goal is to catch us up with the HP releases since the last calendar. Hopefully, we will have enough lead time to change the theme entirely for HHC2009 and the 2010 calendar year.

Cool! Does that mean I will be getting one in the mail? Or do you need us to chip in some shipping cost?

My calculator poster from HHC2006(2007?) has been adorning the cubicle wall at my previous employer. It matched the calendar and the HP48GX mug. Everyone that came in there would always lean over my desk and point out the models they had/have. Brought up some interesting discussions. One of the fathers of a co-worker I'd been working with for 5 months apparently worked in the cubicle across from Cyrille in Boise. Heard some funny stories from him. :-)

The new one will be in my cubicle in Ft. Collins at the new job. I'll reserve a place for the new calendar.

great idea to come out with a new calendar. But if I understand your announcement correctly, you said the calender of 2009 will contain the same pictures as in 2008, just shifted a bit and printed on a nonstandard format ;-/ Plus the 2 new releases (17bii+ Silver and 20b). Is this really what you wanted to tell us??

If true then I'll use my old one for another year and wait for the ideas to come.

My sincere apologies...I may have misspoken. The finances are still being calculated out to see if conference funds can pay for the calendar for attendees or whether it will have to be sold to everyone. Nobody turns a profit on these endeavors, that's for sure....we will just be covering costs.

Well the "nonstandard format" (as you put it, with tongue in cheek) will save us a ton of money with local printing houses. Last year's one was A4 size because Richard Nelson had already owned multiple thousands of sheets of A4 paper purchased much earlier for very low cost and we intended to save money by supplying this paper for the printer to use. It ended up that the printing people were uneasy about using "unfamiliar" paper in their printing machines, so after formatting everything for A4, there was no turning back and we had to use their paper stock.

With respect to the content, in addition to starting with the "monthly" images from last year, some 2008-released HP items (of interest) have been added along with a few error corrections and photos of some HP folks who visited us at HHC2008. We really intended to do something completely different this time, but circumstances did not permit it. This is a labor of love - more of a tribute - and, again, by design will not generate a profit.
