As you probably know in many Investment Banks, all newly joining associates on the training programs were given an HP12C. In fact in my time in Investment Banking I mostly saw 12C's with the odd "maverick" with a 41C series... although the 12C ruled supreme. I heard a story of an associate who after a meeting with a VP, left his TI BA calculator on the VP's desk, which the VP's secretary returned to the associate saying "her boss felt nervous with such a big calculator on his desk". He went out and purchased a 12C...
Myself, if I see a (pre 1995, or simply lets say RPN) HP being pulled out for a calculation, my respect for the owner goes up ten-fold.
I have never had a colleague pull out an LED HP yet... if they did.. heck the credibility goes up twenty-fold for sure :)
Happy calculations!
