I'm just curious

It has been said that "curiousity killed the cat". Even so, I'll ask even though I suspect that all the old-timers already know the answer.

In numerous places in this forum Walter B. has proposed that HP market a new calculator which he has dubbed the HP-43. While thinking about that I realized that there has been a real dearth of HP machines where the second digit is a three; e.g., as I go through Wlodek's book there is no mention of an HP-13, HP-23, HP-43, HP-63, etc. Maybe the answer is in Wlodek's book and I just haven't found it. So I'll ask "Why is that?"

If the 33s is any indication of what you get with that second 3, then I'll be happy if I never see a second 3 product again. :-)

Hi, Palmer,

that was a wise decision of our ancestors (?) to leave at least one digit almost unused and for us ;)

@Egan: :D Remember there was a HP-33E & -C before? I don't think the 33S has enough power to burn a digit.

Ceterum censeo: HP, launch a 43s.

Come on, HP 42 does exist already. And after 20 years, you may increment by 1. Anyway, I can live with 45s or 42sx-Super as well, but 45 is too far from holy 42 and 42sx-Super is too long ;))

Ceterum censeo: HP, launch a 43s.

Walter
