hp50g on-line tutorial

I found an excellent "getting Started" type tutorial on-line at the following URL:

Interestingly, the first sentence in Lesson 1, "Introduction and Basic Operations" is 'In Calculus I and in almost all higher math courses students are REQUIRED [emphasis mine] to have an HP50g calculator.' I think this is the first instance I have seen of specifically HP calculators being the required calculator for use at any university! The tutorial also recommends strongly the learning and use of RPN! Be still my beating heart!

Not owning an HP 50g (now looking so that I can keep up with the HCC crowd in Corvallis) thanks for the post.

On the second statement; at the University Of British Columbia, Engineering faculty during the early 80's, the HP41C was not only mandatory, it was a 1.5 credit course.

I don't know what happened to the huge binder of programs that the various students contributed to, but it probably ended up a paper recycling depot by 1990, too bad!

Cheers, Geoff
