Why sells a Casio FX-603P for USD 1225.00 ?

WHY?

Even a TI-88 is/was less than $1000!

Joerg

There is something very shonky about that auction.

Two of the 3 bidders have "100% Bid activity" with this seller for the last 3 months. I doubt that is a coincidence.

I have a Casio 602p and a TI 59, am I allowed to post a sale ad on this site?

There's the
Classified Ad section to do so. But it's only a 602p not a 603p...;-)

Howard; Go ahead and post them here, but if you do someone will have a shitty little comment about it. And speaking of that; Mr Woerner's post was not an ad for sale (the unit was not his and was already sold) but a legitimate question as to why the top of the line and rare casio is worth more than the top of the line and never available TI. He was probably hoping for a comparison from a programmer who has used both and you would have eventually seen the info (credited) on his TI 88 page.

Joerg: You already know my answer to your question. They both have = keys. Neither are worth over a buck and a half.

There's another world out there where they sell millions and millions of programmable calculators. In that world they ask:

If it doesn't have an equals key can it be worth anything?

But, of course, worth and price are different things, particularly in the RPN world. In good old days the frequent comment in that other world about the HP-67 was

You can buy better, but you can't pay more.

When I bought FX-603P about 10 years ago, it cost about HK$650.

Therefore, I'm quite sure that the currency shown on the price tag should be HONG KONG DOLLAR as there were so many Tokyo Toys (ªF¨Êª±¨ã) stores in town. My HP-48GX was bought in one of the stores. However, none of the stores exist now!

The seller delibrately emphasized the amount on the price tag without indicating the currency for the sake of lifting the final price. He was so cunning!
