sticking key HP11C

Hi,

I have a HP11C in which the "1" key does not have the spring that the other keys have. Instead of a sharp spring back there is a kind of soft feeling. It's really hard to tell from the feel if the input has been accepted.

Is there any way to "clean" this button? I assume that anything I might try would potentially do more harm than good but maybe somebody here has a suggestion.

ps. My wife got me on of the new 25th Anniversary Edition of the HP12c (financial) but all the spring in the keys doesn't make up for fact that its not a scientific calculator.

I am interested in your problem. I have a 15C with a wobbly ENTER key that I bought slightly used (near mint at the time) from one of my professors in 1985. The SN is 2237AXXXXX. The professor had recently purchased a 'Personal Computer' and could program it in BASIC. He thus had no further need for such a basic device as a calculator. Guess where that PC is today? I still love my HP 15C.

It would be an interesting factoid to know what percentage of HP calculators manufactured are still in use, compared to the percentage of PCs manufactured that are still in use.
