HP97 printer paper does not advance

My HP97 printer paper does not advance while printing and also when the paper advance button is pressed. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem? Thanks for your inputs. Prabhu

If the gears are okay, the best advise I can provide is to consult the 97 service manual which has a detailed troubleshooting flowchart. The manual can be found on disc 5 of the Museum collection.
