I actually doubt the "110 pieces left" story. These do pop up every other week on ebay - but I have never seen a not-mint-in-box one!
This leaves two possibilities: the same 50 units steadily change hands *or* most of the calcs were not returned or not destroyed after being returned.
I think if you start asking around in this forum or at collectors, you'll easily end up with at least 25 mint-in-box units. How likely is that?

Regardless whether there exist 10 or 100 or even 1000 Xpanders,

I'm sure some of tem are simply floating around between collectors,

when they realize that this ugly-ugly device has absolutely no practical use.

Apart from that, it doesn't have much in common with a typical HP calculator.

Looking back, I think it was the right decision to cancel that beast,

as it was done with the Jornada X25, which also wasn't fish nor flesh...
