With all of recent invective surrounding overpricing and unscrupulous sellers, I thought would provide some balance with a recent positive experience.
I recently purchased a set of these. Apparently Richard has cases of the things. I thought he got them from Holland until my wife explained to me what a Dutch Auction was.
In a bored moment in front of the TV, I decided to count the slippery little buggers, and found I had only 78, not 80. Drove myself nuts with repeated recounts--felt like an elections worker in Florida in 2000.
I let Richard know, just in case other buyers with too much time on their hands found out they got a short set, and told him how silly it was just to sent out two extra cards in the mail, that I would never use any more than a few in life time of hobby programming, etc. etc.
Well, he insisted on sending me 20 extra cards to make up for the shortage and to thank me for bringing the issue to his attention. I don't need them, of course, but that isn't the point--he wanted to maintain his reputation and wanted to keep me satisfied, even though I bet he makes little or no profit at all on these mag card resales.
Some of Richard's prices are a little rich for my blood (boxed card reader starts at $175, HP41 battery packs in need of recelling for $45, HP41 IR module, which I would love to have, for $150 to start), but his management of my little situation certainly gives me faith that there are some scrupulous and responsive HP sellers out there.
