Does anyone know if there was ever a silver version of the 12C? I recall having seen one but .............. it could just be my memory

You may have seen one of the other models: the 10C, 11C, and 15C all have silver bezels. See here: Enterhp.com Virtual Museum

The gold tone of the 12C was basically its signature. It distinguished the 12C from the scientific models. The unique color (and form-factor) of the 12C also helped it become the defacto standard for business. So, no, I do not beleive that any 12C models prior to the platinum models used the silver color scheme.
