I'm finishing the writing of my book about the 25th anniversary of the HP-41.
More than 300 pages with text, bar codes, screen shots and pictures.
I know that I am late but it should be OK in only one month.
I have not enough space on my website in order to share my acknoledge on the HP-41.
This ebook will be a pdf file on a cdr :
- RPN,
- Synthetic Programming,
- MCode,
- Data Transfer,
- Peripherals,
- Making bar codes,
- Eprom Boxes,
- Programming Eproms,
- Emulation,
- Advanced Using, ...
What do you think about EUR 30 for it?
This price will include the cdr, registered and insured air mail and paypal fees.
Pdf file will be secured with a key for printing.
One key and one serial number for each order.
You can re-sell it as is.
You can now reserve it. The French version will be the first available.
After the first 100 orders, I will put it on ebay.
Please remove 5555 from my email address.
Thanks for interest and please advice.
Kind regards from Normandy.
Emmanuel aka xeq41
Dave Hicks, Warren Furlow and Wlodek Mier-Jedrzejowicz will get a free ebook for evaluation :
#DH000, #WF000 and #WMJ000. Mine is #EC000/100. ;o)

Why sooooooooooooooooooooo expensive?
Did you write a 300 page book yet? I don't think so.
You certainly don't know what you are talking about !!!
We live in the same town and I saw his works.
A lot of time to get this acknoledge.
I really think that his book will be useful.
I have mine reserved for february (number 001/100 !!!) and directly paid EUR 22.
~ EUR 6.63 for a cdr and air mail, and EUR 1.37 for paypal fees is reasonnable, isn't it?

Cher Jean Dhuicq,

I've written and printed a much smaller book and I know it's an incredible amount of work. But as for the price, a product is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, regardless of how much work went into it. Very few books make any money for the author. Making money is not the reason most books are written. I want to get this E-book, but I'm going through a temporary very tight financial time so it will probably have to wait. When I do get it, I will probably go all the way and get it printed and put it in a binder. I have to consider that to be part of the price.

[pre]Emmanuel did not mention it. He has to pay taxes too :
income taxes and copyright taxes.
French Treasury charges him a lot.
That should explain the price.
If I understood well, he should get EUR 10 only.
We can consider that his work isn't paid for only 100 units.[pre]

Hi Emmanuel
30 Euro is a normal price for a printed book, with ISBN code and a cover. The autor has to pay fees for the printing company, so he perhaps earns half of the price.
Is this true for your situation? If you burn your CDs yourself, I would say, the price is some Euros too high, if you have a burning company and we get a booklet it´s ok...
By the way: I know a lot of "insiders" as Wlodek, Warren and Dave who would also be happy to get a free CDr.. :)
I would not publish this to everybody, maybe you could earn some enviousness...

Hi Emmanuelle,
When it is French, the price for me is much to high, I can order a good bottle of wine in french, but then it stops in French, so it is probably like an encrypted file (-:) for me mostly.
If it is in English I think it is a reasonable price.
Kind regards
Ronald

Dear Matthias,
'30 Euro is a normal price for a printed book, with ISBN code and a cover'.'
You are right when you do not have a little production like mine (only 100 units).
'The autor has to pay fees for the printing company, so he perhaps earns half of the price.
Is this true for your situation?'
The cost asked by the compagny at Evreux is too high for me. There's only one company.
As mentionned above it's a little production.
For a color printing, covering and wrapping, the Xerox company at Evreux is asking EUR 0.20 per page,
id est EUR 60.00 per book !!!
For 1000 pages, the price decreases to EUR 0.15 (EUR 45 per book)
and for 5000 pages 'only' to EUR 0.10. (EUR 30 per book).
Those prices do not includes s&h costs.
I'm not a professional, just an ordinary person.
'If you burn your CDs yourself, I would say, the price is some Euros too high,
if you have a burning company and we get a booklet it's ok...'.
I have to burn them myself because at Evreux there's no such company.
But there's an important point you do not consider :
the time left in order to write the book.
'By the way: I know a lot of "insiders" as Wlodek, Warren and Dave who would also be happy to get a free CDr.. :)
I would not publish this to everybody, maybe you could earn some enviousness...'
Are you jalous? ;o)
Dave, Warren and Wlodek will give their point of view on that book.

Dear Emmanuel,
now I am waiting for the English version of your book :-)
I know your price is placed in a fair range. For less it would not be possible to produce a small number of books including printing, binding, and handling costs.
For example my I/O-Board Manual (HP41 hardware interfacing and measurement applications) includes 300 pages, the price for this is 20Euro plus shipping costs. And the IL2000 System manual with 150 pages have a price of 15Euro plus shipping costs.
Best regards from Germany - Christoph Klug

_If_ it was a real, paper, book, then I'd almost certainly buy it (and would pay more than 30 Euros for it).
But I don't like CD-ROMs. I can't easily read them, I certainly can't read them in bed, on the bus/train, and so on. Printing out all 300 pages certainly isn't an option for me either.

Emmanuel,
why not giving us a little teaser in pdf or PNG (a small chapter maybe) that shows the quality of your work? I think by doing this people can decide if its worth the money or not.
BTW, EUR 30 whould be ok for me if the quality & content is as described.

Hello Emmanuel,
It's very interesting me too! And are you want to make it in PalmReader acceptable format(or something else compatible)?
Csaba
Ps.: The price is acceptable, if you send me a workable HP41xx for trying... ;) (It was ONLY a joke...!)
