In the last few weeks I have been looking at various algorithms for solving polynomials. Our own museum web site contains routines developed by Jean-Marc Baillard that handle the roots of polynomials with real and complex coefficients. I have been working with Matlab (as the first language to implement various polynomial root seeking methods) and realize that some techniques are not easy to implement. Yet when I look at the work of Jean-Marc Baillard it is beyond amazing! Today I found on TOS his (new?) JMB Matrix ROM which handles matrices and polynomials. Some the ROM's routines are the same/similar to Baillard's posting on this web site. With the ROM module loadable in the HP41CX software, you don't have to type the code! It does not get any better!!
So, Jean-Marc if you visit this museum site often, I want you to know the very high level of esteem I hold you and your work, making the HP41C perform tasks not so easily suited for it, especially with complex math.
Your humble fan, Namir
PS: The JMB ROM is based on Baillard's initials. If his name was something like Jean Irene Marie Bailliard Obergonois ... his ROM would be JIMBO ROM ..... :-) .... sorry could not help myself!
