HP41CX automatic shutdown

#2

I have a problem with the automatic shutdown. The machine automatically turns off after 1 minute of inactivity. The manual says it should be 10 minutes.

If I execute ON function the machine does not turn off any more until the next press of the "on" button (ie, switching it off). This is normal.

Any ideas about the cause and the solution? Is it possible to give the machine an instruction about this inactivity switch off time, or the default value of 10 minutes cannot be changed.

Thanks,

Just a hint: the timeout is controlled from the display drivers (chips), since most of the rest of the calculator is "sleeping" between operations, while the display circuitry keeps showing the last value in the LCD.
