HP 41CV
#1

The display on my HP41CV goes on only when I hit the shift button. It goes off when I release the shift button. Otherwise it seems to work OK. Any ideas?

This is a rather common problem. Usually caused by old solder flux or other gunk (often invisible) on the display module, connector pins, or the CPU board. Open the machine and clean everything with 91%+ isopropyl alcohol. Keep the alcohol off the display lens or it will leave white spots (that can be polished off).

If this does not fix it, the LCD module is probably bad.
