Free42 is a wonderful application. However, a version is not available for PocketPC. Creation of a PocketPC version is on the bottom of Thomas' TODO list. He offers the source code, so perhaps someone could compile a PocketPC version?

I believe what Pio is after is Emu42S developed by Christoph Gießelink. That application takes a ROM image dumped from an actual HP42S. My understanding is that since HP still holds the copyright for the ROM and has not released it to the public domain, it cannot be distributed without risk of legal action by HP. It also cannot be distributed through or linked from this web site in accordance with Dave's policies.

That will probably change... I'm on hiatus from Free42 development until October; at that time, I'll update the TODO list to reflect some requests I have received in the last couple of months, and I'll probably move the PocketPC version to the top of the list then (since this is the most frequently requested feature, not to mention it would bring Free42 to a wider audience).

Thomas,

I wasn't trying to "tweak" you into producing a PocketPC version, just clearing up any confusion over what 42S emulators/simulators run on what platforms. You have certainly earned some time off, I look forward to seeing what you will do come October.
Implementation of a PocketPC version will be great, but don't forget about some of the other features we have discussed, such as optional display of the whole stack, possible variable stack height, enhancements to handling of complex numbers, etc.

Best regards, and keep up the good work (when you're ready)!
