Heard rumors that the machine has a faster processor but the speed was intentionally crippled. Can anyone confirm? It sounds too unbelievably stupid, even for HP.

Who knows why that is. I heard that it's slower because it uses algabraec (sp?) and RPN, and that causes inefficiency. I don't know, though. I know that I did buy a Platinum and I didn't like the feel of it, the lighter and harder to read number display, and the slowness. I took it back and got a old-fashioned 12C and am glad I did.

I hooked mine up to a car battery with the voltage stepped down. After a while the "12C Turbo" was calculating faster than I could hit the keys (which were getting very warm). I ended up leaving it alone in a room and it did my taxes, amortized my mortgage, got my bond rating increased to "A", offered short and long-term investment advice (seemingly very sound investment advice by the way), and then blew up. I guess I'll have to get another one. On the other hand, I do have a regular 12C, and that Garrett turbo-charger is just sitting on the shelf in my garage... Hmmmm. Take care. Wayne

If that 12C had two wheels instead of 4 pads, it would win the Superbike world championship......
