My uncle in South America has an HP41CV with a magnetic card reader and infra red printer that he used in his contact lens manufacturing business. He used a program from Nisel (a company that no longer exists)to calculate dimensions for the lenses. The program is stored on magnetic cards. The calculator is no longer functioning and neither is the card reader. I have an HP41CX that is functioning, but without the card reader I can't do much for him. Is there anyone who can convert the program into a form that can be loaded into an emulator(V41 or similar)?

Juan, anyone who has a functioning card reader and a PC interface for its HP-41 may convert the program. Basically, a card reader and a printer suffice, but that requires typing in the program. I offer my help, but I'm far away (Switzerland). Perhaps, there is someone in South America who can do the conversion. Otherwise, don't hesitate to contact me. Regards, Juergen

The calculator is no longer functioning and neither is the card reader. I have an HP41CX that is functioning, but without the card reader I can't do much for him. Juan, Is the card reader just dead or does it maybe have the "gummy" wheel problem? If it has the "gummy" wheel problem it is fixable and you could then use it with your 41CX. Can you "CAT 2" the card reader when connected to your 41CX? There are articles here on the site on how to fix card readers with the "gummy" wheel problem. Maybe you can bring the card reader back to life. Chris

Hi; I read the tittle and did not have a clue about what was card convertion; I thought you were using other brands' magnetic cards and wanted to convert them to HP cards. If I read the post at the moment I saw it, I'd offer this promptly. I have some HP41, a card reader and the means to generate bar codes, list the programs in an 82143A, copy them to disks (text format, RAW or any other) and even translate them to run in an HP48S/G or any other HP RPN/RPL calculator that can hold them. If he wants to give it a try, I can also try to repair both the HP41 and the card reader. My e-mail is: lcvieira@quantica.com.br Your uncle may write in Spanish, English or, if he knows, in Portuguese, but I can only reply in Portuguese or English. I'm waiting for his contact, if he wants to. Sorry I did not reply earlier, I should read the post instead of wondering about the title... Best regards. Luiz C. Vieira - Brazil
