Simple Math Question
#1

Hi All,

I am looking at a new class of, what I will call, Neo Simultaneous Linear Equations where the diagonal elements are squared (or cubed or have any other power)! For example:

a(1,1) x(1)^2 + a(1,2) * x(2) + a(1,3) * x(3) = b(1)

a(2,1) x(1) + a(2,2) * x(2)^2 + a(2,3) * x(3) = b(2)

a(3,1) x(1) + a(3,2) * x(2) + a(3,3) * x(3)^3 = b(3)

Has anyone seen applications with the above type of equations (even with the powers of 2 replaced by other values)???

Thanks you for your help. I would like to know if there are ANY practical applications for the above type of system of equations. Otherwise, the Neo Simultaneous Linear Equations are part of pure math problems.

Namie

Could i suggest you to ask the same question also on Quora http://www.quora.com/? Maybe it helps.

No, but I will keep an eye out for these systems.
