How to open 82162A Thermal Printer Chassis?
#1

I have an HP 82162A Thermal Printer that is giving "printer err" after printing a few lines on paper. I think the print head drive screw is gummed up or the rubber belt is old.

I would like to open the printer and look at the print head transport but see only one screw on the bottom. I take out that screw but the top and bottom halves of the chassis do not want to separate.

Any ideas?

Take off the battery cover and battery pack first...

Then peel off the rubber feet. There are screws hidden under them. Take out all the screws and the case opens easily.
