Brief analysis of the keys to the new color graphic calculator :

Merci, Mic.

I'm growing weary of your posted links that have multiple redirects for advertisements.

#4

Your computer may be compromised or your ISP slipping in advertisements -- the link takes me directly to the site. Good luck.

#5

The cited link takes me direct to the desired site.

#6

No ads for me, either. They appear to an exception, not a rule.

The unshifted SPACE key is an improvement compared to the 39II. I also like the return of the unshifted EEX key :D . The keyboard is for many aspects close to the 39GII but all in a better way. I also see a "user" key .... No such thing on the 39GII. Perhaps we can personalise the Prime keyboard wich is not possible with the 39GII, like on the 41/42/48..50

#8

I, too, am getting a redirect on my iPod touch that attempts to open something in the App Store. I got this before when I clicked on a link to calc bank. Each time I shut it down before anything loaded.

#9

I don't see any rolldown, roll up or swap x<>y button, what's up with that??

#10

Neither can they be seen on the HP 50g. Rollup and Rolldown don't make sense on an infinite stack calculator. Most likely there will be shortcuts for DROP and SWAP when in "RPL mode", like backspace and left arrow on the 50g.

#11

On the 50G you also have the 'interactive stack' with the UP arrow key which is very powerfull and allow kind of ROLLUP and ROLLDOWN (ROT and UNROT or ROLL etc.) and many other things.

I also suppose that many commands will be accessible with the touch screen.

As for the others, the link me straight to the mentioned site....no ads, no pop-ups. Better get that computer overhauled.

#13

Let me be a bit more specific. This occurs when using my iphone. Quite frankly it's a little surprising considering that this forum exists in an ancient format to supposedly protect against spam and other nonsense. Yes i have the pop-up blocker turned on. I was hoping the moderator would see that someone is posting contaminated links in here but maybe that's not a problem.

There's your problem! The Apple Syndicate...a religion whose true believers find it impossible to fault any blessing bestowed by its priesthood.

Contaminated links to which only Apple believers fall victim, apparently. Perhaps you should re-analyze the source of your problem!

Ya think?

#15

I've just tried it on my wife's iPhone 4s and its fine on that, my desktop pc, my laptop and my windows phone.

I think this must be your ISP (whether via WiFi or your phone company) or you have developed an advertising profile which favours disreputable advertising.

#16

Same here with my PC laptop running Windows 7 with Google Chrome browser, and on my iPad Mini with Safari. No problems.

#17

I just took a closer look at the keyboard. What is going on with the X^Y ? The last time I saw that instead of Y^X was on my HP 35.

#18

Having sent that link tthrough Fiddler2, I can tell you that it goes to no advertising sites. It goes directly to the destination site.

There's something funky on your iPhone...

I'm very curious about the touch screen. Does this mean SAT/AP tests will allow (non-stylus) touch-screens?

I saw this article recently concerning this issue:
http://www.techpoweredmath.com/rumor-mill-college-board-change-rules-game/

Currently, the Casio ClassPad is not allowed, but the the Sharp EL-9600 series is allowed if used without the stylus. Interesting.

The comma button has the same symbol as what you see on the 30b...

Thanks! So it is also the SWAP key. I was wondering what that was. It looked like a pair of scissors or the aleph letter to me:-)

#23

Welcome back to the design team :-)

I like the first (upper) HP-51. It shall be completed, however, by assigning the red labels - and the blank keys. And the f-shifted REG and PRGM and PREFIX labels still don't mean anything without CLEAR - how about some evolution in 12 months? Come on!

The light blue against silver is pretty low contrast. I'd much prefer a black background.

Thank you for the flowers, Walter!

Unfortunately, there's no progress (but my Ph.D. thesis has evolved---approx. 200 (horrible) pages and still growing). And, please, forget my first rough sketch (the lower HP-51G).

I think a really good skin has to be drafted from scratch, not by retouching a scan with 'Photoshop'. But I'm very slow with 'Illustrator' and even slower with my old CAD system 'Microstation' and I've no time left for this project. Above all, I'm dreaming about a complete new Voyager-style casing for (hopefully not) HP's last RPL calculator, made by rapid prototyping...

BTW: Is there already a proposition for the casing design of the 43s?

Greetings from the Westend Tower in Frankfurt!

The red button is obviously the OFF key.
At least that's what all my big power tools use for stop.

Walter has been working on the keyboard layout, however the physical design & implementation will be Eric's job I suspect. The software stack is complete vapour at the moment.
