HP-67 Emulator for Android Tablets
#1

I'm upgrading my Android HP67 Emulator to 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

I'll be adding higher resolution image to support tablets and trying to address any button alignment issues.

My initial testing using the SDK emulator for Galaxy Nexus works well.

If anyone out there has tried the current version on their tablet and finds the keys aren't in the right place, and would like to help me test on their devices, please contact me.

FYI,

I've added changes to improve the graphics for tablets and higher resolution devices.
Also added some medium density device layout changes that hopefully work well.

I've tested on a 7" MDPI tablet running Android 4.0.3 and the buttons are aligned well.

You can get it at the android market (latest is version 2.1) - search for 'hp67'.

Feedback welcome. The application is free.

Hi Mike,

On my 4'' screen (Galaxy S wifi 4.0 PMP) the new version does not work well - the keyboard is way better, but the digits in the LCD display are cut at the bottom...
Can you do something about it ?

Thanks and cheers,

Vincent

Yes, I made the font a bit bigger. I'll scale it down a tad.

The above page will provide links to download versions. The version for Android 4.0.3 is the updated version.

You may need to set your Application settings to allow non-market application downloads and installs.

If it looks better, I will post the new version to the android market page.

Thanks!

Still not good, the height is ok but the top right figures (like program steps) are gone !

I think I have managed to find the happy medium in the display now. Buttons are a lot better. The problem is the android DPI measure is not fine-grained enough to exactly scale. I've had to create layouts and styles for each class of device - and even within these classes there's enough variability to cause slight misalignments.

That said, I think I've managed to find a usable compromise within each class now.

Thanks for the input.

I installed v2.4 this morning, but I'm sorry to say that it still did not solve the problem on my Galaxy S wifi 4.0 (4-inch device). The programs steps are still not being displayed. As for the keyboard, the highlighted area when you press a key does not match the key - it is overlapping it but quite too low...

Cheers,

Vincent

Hmm. Yes. Please try this:
I have a diagnostic application here:

http://www.limpidfox.com/hp67new.htm

Click the "Screen Test" and download/install. Note, you may need to explicitly allow non-market applications to install in your app settings.

Please run this program and report the values you see there.
If there's any way you can send a screen shot, that would also help.

Thanks,
Mike
