Hi All:
I'm working on a road-kill 9114. Got it working, but it's got one odd symptom: when the floppy spins it's accompanied by a rather loud "tock, tock, tock" sound. The sound tops when the spindle stops and there's no change when the head is moving.
The same floppy disk doesn't make noise in another 9114
Just thought I'd ask to see if rings a bell with anyone. Not critical - I got a couple of broken 9114's to try to bodge up one working one and wound up with both back in service (rod knock aside!)

Hi.
Any chance to check for a loose, small bolt/nut/spring or anything else at the driver mechanics? Or any misplaced existing part under the driver mechanics?
I have one 9114A and one 9114B, both working fine (hard to find good 720K disks, though...), and both have two different disk drive units. Based on what you mentioned, considering that units are compatible, you may also 'transplant' one of the driver mechanics from one of the two broken units, right?
Please, let us know how it goes.
Success!

Thanks - I had the covers off the actual drive mechanics to clean them up and didn't see any loose parts, but its worth another look. I think I'll also put in a disc and turn the spindle by hand and see if I can figure anything out.
