TOS offline?
#1

I cannot get on TOS from 2 different locations and computers since yesterday. Can anyone confirm?

#2

It appears to be down, according to http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/#

#3

Me neither.

#4

It looks very much like the domain is run from a dynamic IP address. Maybe the DNS update has failed.

#5

Confirm :-/

#6

It appears to be back online again now.

#7

Confirm :-)

#8

What is TOS ?

#9

That Other Site

#10

Google "hp41" and look for a domain similar to that.

#11

or use a different search engine. ixquick.com works the same way but does not record what you searched for so the feds can't label you a terrorist for having looked up "water balloons" for your kid's birthday party. (I'm exaggerating to make a point.) The first line on the website in question says, "From its introduction in 1979 until final production in 1990, the Hewlett Packard 41 Series Programmable Calculator reigned supreme as the trusted companion of professionals and students worldwide."

#12

That´s an old story... (no pun intended)

#13

Here is a recent version of the story:

http://www.hpmuseum.org/cgi-sys/cgiwrap/hpmuseum/archv020.cgi?read=193137

Given the admonition at the top of this page (Please do not publish copyrighted material or links to sites containing unauthorized materials), our obligation is clear: do not link to The Other Site.

But naming The Other Site does not constitute linking to it, so I see no reason for calling it The Other Site, or TOS for short.

Unless we're just being superstitious:

IIRC, Warren Furlow sent me the permissions he obtained years ago, and my conclusion at the time was that he had gone even further than he needed to to avoid violating any copyrights. I know the owner of this website doesn't want to believe it though.

#15

I'd vote for the full name TOSTMNBNH (that other site that must not be named here) for obvious reasons ;-)

#16

Anywho. It is back up again now.

#17

HI.

I meant no pun with 'That´s an Old Story', i.e. T.O.S., too..

#18

No one has asked me to stop people from typing TOS so lets leave it at that. Back to calculators, please.

More info if you really want it.

#19

Nah, too short and easy to remember ;-)

Don't you mean "TOSTMNBMHFOR"?

#21

Hey, you are able to discriminate between a parenthesis and an emoticon, aren't you? ;-)
