But you're correct, that's the fundamental limitation of the
experiment. Key legend support in the graphic version helps
to offset this but obviously isn't a complete solution.

The complete solution is arguably allowing 30 y/o firmware
to rest in peace, clean the slate and define the functionality
for a device with a unified UI which does what you really want.
