Hi,
I saw that the 15C LE was available for purchase at buy.com and showing in stock. I actually called them and they swear they have 1,000 on hand. Does anyone actually believe this?
Cheers,
-Marwan

990 in stock now. ;-)
09-08-2011, 10:25 AM
Moving down fast <g>. I have an order in with CostCentral but I wasn't waiting! Let's hope it's for real! Cheers, -Marwan
09-08-2011, 10:36 AM
I predict by this time tomorrow, it will be sold out! :)
09-08-2011, 10:38 AM
Which to me would be a fabulous thing. I truly think that if HP sees this stuff sell out quickly, they might have their eyes opened.
09-08-2011, 10:40 AM
I am with you there as long as they don't all go to eBay sellers that will hoard them and try to piece them out at $400 each!
09-08-2011, 10:51 AM
If this production run quickly sold out, HP would be wise to produce more, so long as it continues to sell. Then these hoarders will be left with warehouse full of 15c but no where to go. Then the older 15c can go for much, much less on the TAS. It's a win/win.
09-08-2011, 10:58 AM
*IF* HP produces more...
09-08-2011, 11:02 AM
This thing showed for less $$ earlier today, then was shown sold out, now back at a higher price. Bizarre to say the least. I have to question if this listing is for real with all of the rapid changes. And they have them in stock but HP doesn't? Smells real fishy. I never see an item that buy.com has and Amazon doesn't. Amazon has no listing for the 15C LE And where do you see the number in-stock? I see nothing in the web page to indicate that.
09-08-2011, 11:03 AM
I ordered one machine from them. I will "accept" it as true (the hypothesis that buy.com HAS machines at hand) when the little monster arrives at my doorstep. Notice I did not say "I will believe it when I see it" because that is an oxymoron! :-) Namir
09-08-2011, 11:07 AM
IF they do not, then someone higher up in HP (Apotheker or someone else) should see a shrink ... preferably Freud!!! :-) Namir

Marwan, I say who cares if HP's web site still has "Coming Soon"?? If these merchants have actually received the 15C LE and are fulfilling orders, then we are in good shape. I know Samson Cables are good for it. They are not going to be left out with no LE stock. They are very reliable and I never had any problem with them. And I feel that HP has a good relationship with them. Namir
09-08-2011, 11:14 AM
Actually I would not be at all surprised. For example Sampson Cables has, and is selling, the HP12C 30th Anniversary Edition and *NO ONE* else including HP Home and Home Office Store is listing it as available. I realize that the Small Business store has them but for approx $25 more! Not that you are mistaken, mind you, I, like Namir, will (to use the phrase he didn't) believe it when I see it! Cheers,

09-08-2011, 11:14 AM
I certainly hope this is true. Just ordered 2. They have the correct hp part # listed which is a good sign. I am also curious where one can see the number left in stock.
09-08-2011, 11:17 AM
Because??????????????????????
09-08-2011, 11:17 AM
Hi Namir, I'm with you there. Keeping my fingers crossed. -Marwan
09-08-2011, 11:21 AM
Marwan, Glen Dowdy is saying buy.com does not have 1,000 units. Do they have any units? Maybe 999? Maybe 500? Inquiring minds want to know ... and I (a nosy Middle Easterner) surely want to know!! Namir

A $5 off coupon for purchases over $75 http://www.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=85094736 It seems to work when I put the 15C in my shopping basket. Tom
09-08-2011, 11:25 AM
Hi Namir, Try calling them (800) 800-0800 and see if you get the same answer I did. I'd love to hear the result. I have to admit that I am suspicious of their claim! Which is why my original post has a "?" in the title and I wondered if anyone else believed they had them. Cheers, -Marwan
09-08-2011, 11:25 AM
Thanks to this forum for alerting me; I just ordered one. I'd been hitting refresh on the HP page several times a day, but also trying to check here. I was charged $78.99 + shipping; too late for the $5 coupon. I resisted the temptation to buy a second one for investment purposes...
09-08-2011, 11:26 AM
Darn! Didn't think to look. I am usually good about searching for coupons.
09-08-2011, 11:32 AM
Hmmm... buy.com sells them at 78.99, free shipping... Samson sells them at 99.99 PLUS shipping. If buy.com is "for real" I might cancel my order at Samson... Thoughts?
09-08-2011, 11:34 AM
Namir, I ordered one, too, from Buy.com. I sincerely hope it's true! I remember I passed on buying the original because I still had my then still totally functional HP-34C. When it stopped working (gradually), I really regretted not getting the 15C. Now, here's my chance again!
09-08-2011, 11:35 AM
Marwan, I just called them and the lady checked availability and said that they have them in stock. I told her that if they had them in stock to expect a lot of orders!!
Namir Edited: 8 Sept 2011, 11:35 a.m.
09-08-2011, 11:36 AM
The order likely hasn't been processed and can be cancelled and re-ordered. Give it a shot and see if you can do that; I do it often at other web sites and never run into problems. Tom
09-08-2011, 11:39 AM
I feel as you, except I am not good at looking for coupons. I have to remember these things!! The only consolation I have on this matter is that I did not buy all my HP calculators at full price, maybe half of them.
09-08-2011, 11:42 AM
LOL. Fingers and toes crossed now!
09-08-2011, 11:44 AM
I took a look at my order status. It has the following note: "In the Shipping Process" According to Buy.com's Questions about Order Status page, it means that "An item cannot be cancelled because it is being picked from the shelves, packaged, and stacked on the loading dock." Plus I can no longer cancel the order. So, it's on the way to my house... shortly! Woohoo!!!
Look like a real deal! Edited: 8 Sept 2011, 11:47 a.m. after one or more responses were posted
09-08-2011, 11:44 AM
Before anyone cancels and reorders, beware that the coupon is only for NEW Buy.com customers. I suspect at least a few of us won't qualify.
09-08-2011, 11:45 AM
Did anyone pay for overnight delivery? If so we'll know tomorrow if this is real.
UPDATE: mine also is now in "Sent to warehouse" status. Edited: 8 Sept 2011, 11:58 a.m.
09-08-2011, 11:59 AM
Interesting. Tells me I am not eligible for this coupon. Oh well.
09-08-2011, 12:06 PM
Yup. I didn't.
09-08-2011, 12:08 PM
Mine still shows processing...
09-08-2011, 12:09 PM
I'm trying to place an order with them. I want the calculator shipped to my wife's address in the US (she is an American citizen), so it's not an international shipment. They won't accept my credit card though, because I'm Italian and it's an Italian credit card; they won't even accept my paypal or google accounts for the same reason. My wife isn't here now so I can't ask her credit card number. Cristian
09-08-2011, 12:21 PM
As does mine. "Sent to warehouse" is a sub-status several lines below.
09-08-2011, 12:24 PM
Yes. My HP12C order (placed lat night) shows "In the Shipping Process". My HP15C LE order shows nothing except the top "Processing" line. Wonder what the holdup with mine is. I was probably one of the first to order. Don't all you guys but them out before they ship mine--you hear <g>? Cheers, -Marwan
09-08-2011, 12:36 PM
Mine just updated to "in the shipping process". Maybe you ought to give them a call and make sure there is no hangup before they are gone...
09-08-2011, 12:43 PM
Probably because as far as we know there is no air-lifting going on, and there is no way a boat could have arrived since we don't even think any palates have shipped yet. If anyone does have any 15c units marked "shipped" it wouldn't surprise me if someone at the warehouse messed up and you get a 12c or something. . .

hi Cristian, i faced the same problem trying to buy from buy.com so Samson got my orders for both the 12c and 15c. hpnut in Malaysia
09-08-2011, 12:57 PM
Thanks Tim! I ordered the HP-12C 30th anniversary from buy.com. Will make sure that its is not another version if I get something. Namir

09-08-2011, 01:25 PM
you can set up a US Virtual VISA card at entropay.com - this has worked for me before.
EDIT - I just used this virtual visa card to order 3 units with the $5 coupon - I live in Canada, so it is being shipped to a brokerage in Niagara, NY for me to pick up ! Edited: 8 Sept 2011, 1:35 p.m.
09-08-2011, 01:28 PM
If you read their terms of use it's spelled out clearly concerning international orders. (buy.com) I'm pretty sure their software detects isp's. Anyway i got a confirmation e-mail saying it was in stock so we will see. Also their terms of use states that if the item is unable to ship if they run out or whatever they will automatically refund your credit card. Which is probably why buy.com and samson seem to be willing to take orders. They don't care if they have the item or not they will hold your payment for a few months collect some interest and then pay you back.
09-08-2011, 01:39 PM
Buy.com accepted my order however in their terms use they state that if they can't ship the item they will refund your credit card so them and samson will probably take as many orders as they can.
09-08-2011, 01:41 PM
Order placed with coupon applied. Where are you guys seeing quantity in stock?
09-08-2011, 01:54 PM
So I called customer service and told them HP said that they could not possibly have them. The lady said that she will check with their merchandising department to see if there is an error on the web page and get back to me within 1 business day. As noted elsewhere I was suspicious from the very beginning but when forum members said that they had received notification that the order had gone to the warehouse I saw a glimmer of hope. Oh well...
09-08-2011, 01:55 PM
I called in my order and asked them.
09-08-2011, 02:12 PM
I imagine they will do like samson and take as many orders as possible quantity on hand or not. They have a refund policy/ disclaimer that let's them off the hook so i won't hold my breath but i do have a confirmation number.
09-08-2011, 02:22 PM
So, has your credit card been charged yet ?
09-08-2011, 02:26 PM
Yes. But I don't know buy.com's policy on charging before shipping and I don't know if it is just a "hold". I specifically told them that HP said they could not have them yet and that I was worried that they would send me a 12C instead. She promised to have my concerns looked into. Cheers, -Marwan
09-08-2011, 03:05 PM
Update: I contacted Samson, telling them about buy.com's offer, asking if they would consider matching their price. Here's what they replied: "Our shipment is in transit so we will be shipping next week when it arrives. The Buy.com pricing is lower than our cost so I cannot match. I am told it is a mistake." This makes me wonder, and sort of confirms Tim's message. And for now I'm not canceling my order with Samson! :) Cristian

My point was that this is not really an international sale - I want it shipped to an address in the US, and the order was placed with my wife's name - and she's an US citizen... And by the way, Samson hasn't charged my card, they will only charge it when they're ready to ship, so they're not getting any of my interest! :) Cristian

Quote: I think that the original 15C and the upcoming 15C LE are both items which appeal mainly to the collector and calculator hobbyist market. It's obvious from recent postings that even in the community of this forum there are many who attach no significance to the sophistication of the 15C. For those users there have long been HP machines available at significantly lower cost that serve their needs completely...even much more completely if alphanumeric capability in program mode is desired. There is no reason for them to buy a 15C of any sort.
09-08-2011, 06:50 PM
It's going to be interesting to see what I get from Buy.com. I've got a tracking number from them on 2 15C's that I ordered earlier today. Maybe they've got a mole in China that's sneaking them out the back door of the factory. Or maybe, they've sent me some overpriced HP ink cartridges by mistake. Whatever it is I won't know until next week. I also ordered a 12C LE on a separate order from them, but that hasn't shipped yet, curiously.
09-08-2011, 06:58 PM
Or maybe "in the shipping process" means on the boat from China.
09-08-2011, 07:35 PM
Response from buy.com. I will also post in it's own thread:
Thank you for contacting Buy.com regarding your order # 62171041.
We thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have confirmed that
09-08-2011, 07:41 PM
I just ordered one with the $5 coupon even though I'm a buy.com previous customer. I figured out that if I order through Amazon's checkout it takes the $5 coupon. Extra bonus: Amazon now backs me if buy.com sends me the wrong item, so I've got some 'heft' in my corner if there's a problem.
Edit: I checked buyer feedback for buy.com on Amazon. YIKES. Glad I ordered it through Amazon. Edited: 8 Sept 2011, 7:43 p.m.
09-08-2011, 08:46 PM
I used PayPal, which also has buyer protection.
09-08-2011, 08:48 PM
I guess we'll find out soon enough Marwan since many of us (myself included) placed an order. If it doesn't show up, oh well. That'll make 0 for 2 in getting HP gear in the last month (lost out on the Touchpad firesale). At least I have 2 35S units, a 33S and my trusty HP48G and 32SII to fall back on (not to mention a few HP emulators on my ifruit phone). No way I'm using an equals key! :-) Tom
09-08-2011, 08:53 PM
Haha. That page has already been removed anyway. Well, I guess we'll all find out soon. And I like her saying that there "still" is an HP 15C. I just got a FEDEX notification with an ETA of 9/12.
09-08-2011, 09:00 PM
Quote: Which page? The HP one? The buy.com order page is still up.
09-08-2011, 09:06 PM
Yes, the HP one that's now replaced with the regular HP store. I just meant that the lady that Marwan was talking to really didn't have a clue as to whether the calcs were actually here in the US yet. Just have to cross our fingers.
09-08-2011, 09:59 PM
For more than a decade I have sometimes lurked on deal sites like Slickdeals, Fatwallet, and Anandtech Hot Deals. There are tons of other similar sites too. Anyway, the point is that Buy.com is well known for getting things screwed up. I can't tell you how many times people have thought they were going to get a great deal from them only to either get the wrong item shipped to them, or they get the order cancelled because it was a pricing mistake. Don't get your hopes up too much just yet.
09-08-2011, 10:10 PM
Not to worry. I've still got another order pending at CostCentral, which I won't cancel until this one arrives. Bird in hand, ya know.
09-08-2011, 10:41 PM
Quote: Point well taken. I've had them screw up a few shipments years ago but they made good. My fallback I guess is the Hp web site when they put it up for order (my employer is a supplier so I get a slight discount though employee purchasing).

http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/can.do?landing=calculator&category=Scientific&catLevel=1&storeName=storefronts still show it and leads to http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/calculator/Scientific/1/storefronts/NW250AA%2523ABA saying coming soon as it has for several days.

Ditto. I've found that using AmEx via Paypal is the best buying protection. While it's almost never necessary to make a claim for merchandise from normal retail outlets, I've been defrauded on TAS and on each occasion all it took was a quick phone call to AmEx to get a refund. No need to even fill out a Paypal claim.
09-08-2011, 11:58 PM
The HP datasheet says the 15C has "Chain Algebraic" and RPN entry-system logic... talk about proof reading. sheesh....
09-09-2011, 07:39 AM
So, I too will soon know if I have a printer cartridge or some 15c LE units. Stay tuned.
09-09-2011, 08:27 AM

09-09-2011, 09:39 PM
What the heck, they were $79.99 yesterday, it was $84.99 this morning, and now its nearly $90. I guess if something sells well, up the price. But still. . . If it goes to $95 tomorrow i will not be getting it from buy.com. Edited: 9 Sept 2011, 9:40 p.m.
09-09-2011, 11:36 PM
At this point it would actually be cheaper to get it from HP (if they ever actually sell the thing) since there are $15 off purchase of $75 or more coupons almost always available for the Home and Home Business store. Cheers, -Marwan |
