HP-67 battery question

I have a "new" HP-67 without charger and dead battery pack. It is possible to insert new AA batteries to testing unit or this will be cause irreversible malfunction?

I've certainly used 3 x alkaline AA batteries to power a 65 with no problem, so I am pretty certain the 67 will be fine too. The DC-DC converter inside the calculator should regulate the voltage(s) to the required level(s) anyway.

Maybe you're know the answer to my second problem: It is possible to use higher capacity accumulators than originally installed by HP with factory charger? What will cause when I'll use it?

I have 1100mAh NiMH cells in my 67. They charge just fine with the factory charger. Takes a long time tho.

I would not use alkaline. I would use NiCd or NiMH cells charged in an external charger before I used alkaline.
