I just received a Sharp EL-5100.

What an incredible machine. Wow. It looks like a jewel. It looks and feels way better than anything on the market right now.

I bought a Sharp EL-5100 when they first came out. It's a nice calculator, but if I needed an algebraic calculator today, I'd much rather have something like the Casio fx-115ES (or fx-991ES).

Yes, it is an amazingly svelte and thin machine. It makes the Voyagers look like elephants! Did you get the 5100 or 5100S? The 5100 have the old style LCD which bleeds badly so most of those type are probably doomed to die with a black LCD. Sad fate for such a lovely calc.
