HP-28S Battery Door - John Limpert - 10-25-2003

I recently purchased an HP-28S for my collection. I had a terrible time installing the batteries. It was much more difficult than on my HP-28C. Is there a trick to replacing the battery door? I'm afraid that I will break it next time.

I often wondered why the 28S's door (and 19BII) was so hard to close. It appears the spring inside is either larger ot stiffer than in the 28c or 18C.

Though not advisable, I was going to maybe remove some of the spring (just not sure how yet).

:-(

This thing was made for headaches. Be carefully.
I insert and release the batteries until the spring became more "soft" and then I insert the plastic slide cap.

Cheers.

No, that's not how it works...it's not the spring that is getting weaker, it's you developing the muscles in your arm!
