I bought Hp 42S for $100 - mapet - 03-28-2003

I just want to share with you how I acquired the calc. I live in Poland and HP 42S was put on the Polish online auction system (similar to ebay). Only 3 bidders were interested in the purchase. It was NR auction and the opportunity to buy cheap was great as very few people here in Poland are hp calc collectors. Anyway, I was overbid and lost the auction. Few hours later I received an email from the seller. He told me that he’s got 3 calcs and want to sell it to me at the price I offered. I agreed and met him. He told me a story how he acquired the calcs. He bought them 10 years ago in US and brought with him to Poland. After that he put them in the wardrobe and forgot about it. He found calcs recently while cleaning the house. And thanx to this discovery I have HP 42S for 100 bucks! The calc is like new with box, English manual and even some HP advertisments. The funny thing is that only 3 bidders were interested and he had exactly 3 calcs.

Congratulations! - Raymond Del Tondo - 03-28-2003

If you happen to want to get rid of the box (w/o calc) please drop me a note via email.

Congratulations, a real find.

I'm going to spend about a month in Poland this summer, and have some questions I'd like to ask you about calculators and Poland. Could you contact me directly? My address is lcorrado@uwc.edu.

3 calcs for 3 bidders (or 7 brides for 7 brothers?) - Karl Schneider - 03-28-2003

Ebay offers a "Dutch Auction" for selling multiple identical items in a single auction -- something that might have been just the ticket for this situation. All winners pay the price that the *low-bidding* winner paid.

Congrats on your Singapore-made(?) find.
