F1227A as HP48 case: yes! - megarat - 12-07-2013 Hey all, Here's one for the knowledge base: I recently stumbled across a Hewlett Packard F1227A leather case -- originally sold as an upscale accessory for their various Jornada-series handhelds -- and I'm happy to report that it works quite well as a carrying case for the HP 48-series calculators. The size of the zippered pocket is an uncanny fit for the calculator itself, and the case has little pockets on the inside for memory cards (or credit cards, etc.), two inner sleeves that nicely accommodate the Quick Reference Guide, a pen loop, business card slot, and various other pockets, compartments, etc. It's made of black leather and seems of reasonably high build quality. My only complaint is that, fully loaded, the case can get pretty bulky (almost 7cm thick), and I suppose I'm not 100% comfortable with the magnetic snap (I'd rather it were strictly mechanical, as I'm paranoid about having magnets in the proximity of electronics), but all in all it makes for a good opportunistic accessory. It even has a nice embossed HP logo on the bottom.
(And before you ask, I don't own any of the newer HP calculators (48gii, 49g/g+, 50g, Prime, etc.), so I can't vouch for whether or not it can accommodate them.)

Re: F1227A as HP48 case: yes! - megarat - 12-07-2013 I suppose I could provide some measurements, huh? The inner pocket, which fits the calculator itself, is about 7.4"(l) x 4"(w) x 1" (d).
These measurement are approximate, and something pushing the boundaries on one or more dimension might not fit.

Re: F1227A as HP48 case: yes! - megarat - 12-08-2013 My apologies, Walter. Please forgive me, as -- being born and raised on Pluto -- I am still naive to your Earthly customs. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go flush my gills with a proteinaceous fluid and return to my methane tank for another three-month slumber.

Another opinion is for a Hard Plastic tool case made by Sears. Found it on comp.sys.HP48 many years ago. Not sure if Google Groups has archived that discussion that far back or not, as far as the model number goes. Re: F1227A as HP48 case: yes! - Walter B - 12-10-2013 Earthly customs class 1 for Plutonians: Don't confuse marketing talk with market share (Some earthly people talk a lot of inches and more strange stuff though the market share of them is <5%. Just leave them aside and proceed).

WP 34S and 43S cases (was: Re: F1227A as HP48 case: yes!) - Walter B - 12-10-2013 Great! How about one for the WP 34S and one for the 43S? May be a bit early for the latter though ...
