Vintage HP 15C with bleeding LCD display - Michael de Estrada - 10-30-2013

While perusing auctions, I noticed this vintage HP 15C with a badly bleeding LCD display. Although I've seen other calculator brands and models with bleeding LCD displays, I think this is the first time I've seen a Voyager do this. Have any of you seen this sort of thing, and is it likely to have been caused by some sort of trauma ?

I saw it on my first 15C, right after it fell from my desk to the hard floor. That was in about 1987, so I used HP's out-of-warranty replacement service to get a new one.
