Ballistics programs for HP41C or 42S? - Bill Wiese - 12-20-2002 Hi folks.. Any exterior ballistics programs for HP41C or 42S? That is, knowing things like ballistic coefficient, muzzle velocity, height of sights over bore, etc., a zero point, I can figure rifle shot trajectories?? Play with zero, watch impact point change?
Thanks, Re: Ballistics programs for HP41C or 42S? - db (martinez, ca.) - 12-21-2002 would air pressure be a factor there? wait a minute. this is for a rifle isn't it? have i pissed you off? is martinez out of cannon range?

No you haven't pissed me off :) This is for my rifles. Yes, temperature, barometric pressure, altitude, humidity can all play a part. But some of these variables can be quantized into 'bands' since even moderately large variations have relatively small effect on impact at a given range (and if they have larger effects at longer ranges sometimes a better choice of caliber is in order - say, changing from .308 to .30-06 to .300 Winchester Short Magnum.
