HP48GX Interface to a PC - John W Kercheval - 09-27-2013 Hello: I have a 48GX and in the 1990s used to plug that into a PC via the serial interface.
Does anyone know how to hook a 48 to the newer pcs?
Re: HP48GX Interface to a PC - Han - 09-27-2013 You have pretty much only two options: 1. Get a USB-to-RS232 adapter for your PC, or 2. Buy a USB-to-HP48 cable from eBay. In both cases, you can use Conn4X (check hpcalc.org) to do your file transfers.
Re: HP48GX Interface to a PC - Gerson W. Barbosa - 09-27-2013 If you still have the serial cable you'll only need a USB/RS-232 converter. An FTDI converter, like this one is better, but I think cheaper models might also do.

Re: HP48GX Interface to a PC - Joe Horn - 09-27-2013 I use the Rhino CBU-DB9 "USB to Serial 9-Pin" converter with the HP serial cable. It works perfectly on Windows 7 (both 32-bit and 64-bit) and older USB-aware versions of Windows. I do not know if it works with Windows 8. Only $10 at Fry's: http://www.frys.com/product/7039201 ... and $12 at Wal-Mart: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Rhino-CBU-DB9-USB-to-Serial-Cable/20864876
... and £5.74 from the manufacturer: http://www.rhinocables.co.uk/usb-to-serial-converter~341
