OT - A lucky find - Busicom Handy-LE LE-120A - Cristian Arezzini - 09-24-2013

A few days ago, at a consignment shop, I found this little gem:

It's the more expensive, metal version. I gather it's the very first really handheld calculator.
It's working perfectly, and it's in good physical shape.
It took some time to understand that addition and subtraction work in RPN mode, while multiplication and division work in Algebraic! :)

Anyway, now I'm wondering how much could it be worth. I did some searches on eBay but could find none there. How rare is it, really? How much do you think a collector would pay for it?

Thanks,
Cristian

Hello!

Congratulations, that's a good one.

The "Collector's Guide to Pocket Calculators" by Ball and Flamm quotes a value of 200-300$ for it. My edition is from 1997, so prices are a lot higher now (for example they list the value of an HP-67 as 60-80$). If you are lucky to encounter "the collector" for this kind of calculator you might get up to 1000 Euros I guess. Unfortunately I can't afford that!

Cool... Looks like I really got a great deal, since I paid about 3 euro for it! :)
