How repairable is this? - David Ramsey - 11-16-2002

Ebay item #800562411, a 9820 desk calculator whose display shows "NOTE 1" whenever a key is pressed. Is this junk, or something I might be able to get working (I possess minor soldering skills and have replaced LED displays in some HP pocket calcs)...

Most of the chips in HP calculators are custom HP chips, also no schematics, etc are available. Without a spare unit for parts/swapping chances of getting a dead unit working are very slim.
