[wp34s] xtal question - jerome ibanes - 02-03-2013 My WP34s didn't survive the last flash, probably due to some fault of mine. This one had a crystal, but I don't intend to open a 30 to make a 34; so not adding a crystal would only remove the internal clock or would anything else be missing too?
Re: [wp34s] xtal question - Paul Dale - 02-03-2013 The stop watch also disappears. You should be able to recover a bad flash -- just go through the process again.
Re: [wp34s] xtal question - Walter B - 02-03-2013 Please turn to p. 182 of the latest manual published. HTH

Re: [wp34s] xtal question - Marcus von Cube, Germany - 02-04-2013 Does MySamba tell you it can't send? If so, does it take a second or so to tell you or is the error message instantaneous? The latter would mean that Windows has a problem with your serial port, the former is related to the calculator. You should measure the voltage of the batteries. SAM-BA boot mode drains them quickly and you don't see it in any way. If the batteries are good and you're sure the chip is in SAM-BA mode pressing ON on the calculator for a second or two should bring it into accepting a connection from MySamba.
If you can flash but you cannot start the calculator afterwards this may be related to the xtal modification. Try ths default image cal.bin (or calc_full.bin) instead of the xtal build.

The batteries' voltage is, respectively, 2.84V and 2.82V. I may be able to ask for access to a windows machine at work, if you think this might help.
Thank you for your help.
Re: [wp34s] xtal question - Walter B - 02-05-2013 Buenas dias, Jerome, Once I had a similar experience until I found I repeatedly entered the port with a trailing colon. Don't do that for MySamBa! HTH

Re: [wp34s] xtal question - jerome ibanes - 02-05-2013 Quote: Hola. I requested a windows machine from work (those are getting harder to get by these days) and I was able to flash the wp-34s, it didn't work with the ftdi cable, but that same machine had a serial port, and it worked this way. Now my wp-34s works again, thank you all!
On a side note, the keyboard stickers are scratched to hell (my fault), is there any place that sells less scratch-able ones? I got mine from hpcalc. Granted, I should pay more attention to my "hp".
