TI-88 - lgomez - 09-22-2012

This is my new acquisition:

Re: TI-88 - Marcus von Cube, Germany - 09-22-2012

Congratulations!

Does it have a bouncy keyboard like the one I had in my hands recently?

Forum MySilicium (French)

Sadly, the keyboard of this device is as bad as it can be. :-(

Re: TI-88 - lgomez - 09-22-2012

Yes. It remeber me the TI-57 LCD owned by a school friend in the early eighties. The keyboard of my TI-57 was infinitely better than the keyboard of the TI-57 LCD and the TI-88.

Re: TI-88 - Marcus von Cube, Germany - 09-22-2012

It's a real pity. The machine seems very capable.

If you still have your TI-57, try this keystroke sequence:

CLR 1 +/- + 2 + ( 3 x2 x2 x2 + . 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 lnx ) 1/x + 2nd pi 1/x = INV lnx INV lnx
If the keys are not bouncing then you might get the answer to some important questions :-)

My TI-66 gives the answer 41.99999995 LOL ;-)

Re: TI-88 - Luiz C. Vieira (Brazil) - 09-22-2012

Close enough... regarding to the 'unknown' question. 8^D

Re: TI-88 - Gerson W. Barbosa - 09-22-2012

My TI-57 gives 42.000000022, but because it can display only eight significant digits the result is rounded to 42. The actual 12-digit answer is 41.9999999486, which quite agrees with your TI-66.

Re: TI-88 - mr-scorpio - 09-22-2012

I shudder to think how much this cost!!?
Great acquisition!

Re: TI-88 - mr-scorpio - 09-22-2012

I actually didn't think at the time to reveal the internal 'guard' digits. - Meaning that the 5 is rounded up :-D

Re: TI-88 - QUESTIONS YOU DON'T ASK... - Joerg Woerner - 09-22-2012

You never ask a girl about her age and you NEVER ask a TI-88 owner what she or he paid for it.

Rule of thumb: If you have to ask for the price - you can't afford it ;-))

Cheers,

Joerg

Re: TI-88 - Serial Number - lgomez - 09-23-2012

Hi Joerg. Can there be an error with the serial number that appears in Datamath?

http://www.datamath.org/Sci/Slanted/TI-88.htm

002074 ATA wk 32 year 1982

Mine is 002055 ATA wk 33 year 1982

Re: TI-88 - Eddie W. Shore - 09-24-2012

I managed to get 41.999999995 on my TI-65.

Bummed to see that the TI-88's keyboard is not good. Does it run a complete operator system?

Re: TI-88 - Gerson W. Barbosa - 09-24-2012

If you have liked that, you may also like this :-)

CLR ( 0 INV ln INV ln * ( 1 2 x<>t ( ( 3 * 4 ) +/- INV ln + 5 . 6 7 8 9 ) INV yx x<>t ) )
