WP34S V3 : STATUS questions - Miguel Toro - 12-29-2011 Hello WP34s Team, Today I finally made the jump to version 3.0. Reading about the new memory management I tried the STATUS command to see the new information available. So now I have some questions and a comment: 1 - What is exactly the first information shown? It says Steps: 531, FL. 2046 2 - Why is there a difference between the steps shown by STATUS and the steps available when I switch to program mode? STATUS: 531, Program mode: 525. 3 - I think there is something wrong using [arrow down] and [arrow up] while in STATUS: when viewing the information with [arrow down] and after seeing the registers available, the calculator cycles through flags and stack registers only, but when using [arrow up], it cycles through the entire information. Well that is all for now, As always, thank you for this magnificent device and regards, Miguel
Note: I am using revision 2092. Edited: 29 Dec 2011, 5:48 p.m.

Steps of RAM and steps of flash available.
Quote: Marcus will confirm this I'm sure but I think this is due to us reserving a few stack levels that can't be converted to program steps. Without any stack levels, programs cannot execute.
Quote: Seems like you found a bug.
Re: WP34S V3 : STATUS questions - Marcus von Cube, Germany - 12-30-2011 The bug should be fixed. Pauli is right, there are some return stack levels reserved which cannot be used as program memory. Try the REGS command if you need more steps. :-)
The new XROM stuff is work in progress (and disabled for the flash build in the most recent compile which recovers another page of user flash memory.)
Re: WP34S V3 : STATUS questions - Miguel Toro - 12-30-2011 Thank you, Pauli and Marcus. Very OT : Marcus, I was looking for information about the CE-163 memory module for a SHARP PC-1500 finding a forum with lot of information about these matters and I was gladly surprised seeing you as a frequent contributor...in fluent French! Wow, Chapeau!
Miguel

I wish it were as fluent as it might appear. ;-)
