HP-15C LE available in Switzerland - Juergen Keller - 12-07-2011

Just got the message from a local calculator store that the HP-15 LE will be available in Switzerland around January 2012 for CHF 149.-. Well, I've already got one directly from the US for obvious reason ;-)

whoa! are goods really more expensive in Switzerland? or do you people earn so much that it's nothing to you?

sorry, just curious.

Doing beta tests for HP?

Joking. Of course, even including postage and custom fees, HPs are much cheaper to come by this way. My last three HP calculators were all from the U.S. I wonder when or if european dealers will do a reality check.

They actually do. Best politics within Europe is swiss made.

Unfortunately, you'll have similar prices all over the continent.

Sorry, I could not confirm that self importing of a HP-15C LE is cheaper than the

149.00 SFR -> ~ 122 EUR

Price at hpcalc.org

HP15C $95 + Shipping per Priority Mail $34 = $129 -> ~ 98 EUR

For the German import you have to pay 19% import sales/purchases tax ->

98 EUR * 1.19 tax = 116.40 EUR

The last time, when got a caluctor from the US over FedEx I had to pay additional 7 EUR fee for the import sales/purchases tax handling.

So total 116.40 EUR + 7.00 EUR = 123.40 EUR !

That's no option, especially not for the case of a warranty problem (all keyboard problems already solved?) here in Germany. A warranty case is IMHO equal to a total financial loss.

Of course you could not compare, but in Germany a HP-50G costs

HP-50G 113.95 EUR + shipping 4.95 EUR = 118.90 EUR !

with no probems in a warranty case.

So I'm glad that I bought a new 15C in 1987 for 250 DM.

I bought 5 HP-15C LE calculators from the US, one for me and 4 for colleagues. Price including shipping and custom taxes was around EUR 120.-; not really cheaper than buying it now in Switzerland. However, the reason was that I didn't wanted to wait. Furthermore, I wasn't even sure if the 15C LE find its way to Switzerland.

SC, $94,99 + $18 p&p. Early & patient bird bonus ;-).

I also noticed this when a coworker got his 50g, and it's quite tempting to get one. However, the 35s in 2007 and later the 20b with help of a kind forum member were also cheaper to get in the U.S., allthough I don't remember the exact figures.

Re: HP-15C LE available in Switzerland - Christoph Giesselink - 12-08-2011

Sorry for another disagreeing. It may be cheaper when you buy more than one calculator to save money for shipping.

Here's the 35S example:

hpcalc.org:

HP-35S $56 + Priority Mail shipping $31 = $87 -> ~66 EUR

With import sales/purchaches tax 66 EUR * 1.19 = ~79 EUR

In Germany at www.dynatech.de:

HP-35S 44.40 EUR + shipping 4.95 EUR = 49.35 EUR

Next let us compare the calculator price only:

hpcalc.org: $56 -> ~42.50 EUR * 1.19 tax = 50.60 EUR

vs.

www.dynatech.de 44.40 EUR

The calculator only example for the 20B:

hpcalc.org: $35 -> 26.60 EUR * 1.19 tax = 31.60 EUR

vs.

www.dynatech.de 33.30 EUR

The only reason IMHO for buying the 15C LE in the US is: you can get the 15C LE in the US only.

Regards

Christoph

You didn't. I was referring to the price I paid in 2007.

If the situation has changed now, that's fine.

Re: HP-15C LE available in Switzerland - Artur-Brazil - 12-09-2011

Well, you're very luck guys!

19% of taxes!

Here, in Brazilian lands, it is 100% (over the calculator's price and shipping costs!)

My 15Cle was just from US$114 to US$228!!!
