Thanks Tim for blue HP50g's keyboard colors - Carey - 11-06-2011

When I read Tim's Sept 18 post that he had checked the blue HP50g against color blindness (Protanopia and Deuteranopia) I ordered one as I have the milder and more common (5% of males) form (Deuteranomaly). I am finding the blue HP50g's keyboard to be the clearest and easiest to read (for me) of any calculator and much easier to read than the standard HP50g keyboard. Some web photos don't do it justice. Many thanks Tim for your colorblind-friendly color choices on the blue HP50g's keyboard.

I wish the blue keyboards were available in the United States.

They are, in the sense that you can order one from overseas. I believe I ordered mine from Spain.

I am not sure for what market the new colour scheme was intended but my advise would be to keep the old black colourscheme available for the professional market. The new blue colours may be nice for schoolkids but in my view they are just horrible. They give the calculator an aura of cheepness unmatching its pricetag and its capabilities.
