HP wants to hear your 12c stories... - Gene Wright - 07-21-2011 Thought I would forward this along. Please do not email your stories to me! :-) Gene ====================
Our PR team will be putting together a sizzle reel of complimentary quotes and stories about the 12c. Ideally, they’d like to include a combination of everyday people and business VIP’s. Would you be interested in sending an e-mail out to the calculator User Group to let them know that I am looking for people with interesting stories, complimentary quotes, etc. about the 12c that they would like to share with us to include in our broadcast media pitch? Thanks! If you are an HP-12C user and you are interested in participating send your email to: CalcEnthusiasts@hp.com
Re: HP wants to hear your 12c stories... - Martin Pinckney - 07-21-2011 They want enthusiasm? Tell 'em to solicit comments about 15c, 27s or 42s.
What's a 12c?
Re: HP wants to hear your 12c stories... - Alexander Oestert - 07-21-2011 Dear HP, I'm willing to share lots of complimentary stories about my new 'HP 15c Limited Edition' as soon as you will sell it to me. Send some and I will send a nice story by email for each!
Take care, Re: HP wants to hear your 12c stories... - Dan W - 07-21-2011 I agree. I have a great 42S story I'd be happy to share.
Why is it that HP focuses so much on financial calculators?
Re: HP wants to hear your 12c stories... - NateB - 07-21-2011 I love my 12C. Every night I place it under my pillow and hope that it turns into a 15C. All joking aside, I'm excited to see the 30th Anniversary Edition. The fact that the 12C has been in production for so long truly is amazing. (It also gives me hope that we'll see a Limted Edition 15C, although I'm worried about just how limited it will be...)

Probably not what HP wants for its "broadcast media pitch".
Re: HP wants to hear your 12c stories... - Katie Wasserman - 07-21-2011 Should I tell the one where a 12C in my pocketbook took a bullet for me on the mean streets of New York? Nah, that's too boring... How about this thrilling one that happened just yesterday.... ----------------------------------------------------- I was having a discussion about the 12c with one of my clients. This was prompted by his annual forgetting of how to swap the radix and thousands separator symbols that accidentally happens from time-to-time when you use a 12C every day, all day. [We get this same question on the forum at least once a month, why doens't HP put this on the back-plate of the calculator.] He's been using a 12C for 25 years at work and at home, he loves it! He then went on to tell me that when he was shopping for home mortgages with a broker he was able to stay several seconds ahead of the broker as far as affordability calculations were concerned. He was keying in the numbers on his 12C while the broker was using a desktop PC and waiting for a response. The broker had no idea how anyone could come up with results before the computer did. And this was with an original 12C, with a 12C+ (he doens't have one yet) he'd be several seconds faster still. --------------------------------------------------------------- -Katie
Re: HP wants to hear your 12c stories... - Ángel Martin - 07-22-2011 Never used, borrowed or bought a 12c in the last 30 years - I guess that's also becoming a record to write home about!
On the other hand, the 41....

I had this foolish sense of human superiority that day, I really learned my lesson.
Re: HP wants to hear your 12c stories... - Ron Ross - 07-22-2011 And it WAS'NT an Hp 15c!

I bought a 25 in 1975, never owned a financial calc until I received a 20B at HHC2010 almost 35 years later. Finally bought a 12CPlatinum at a pawn shop yesterday.
Re: HP wants to hear your 12c stories... - Ángel Martin - 07-22-2011 Well done, that's probably the best place to buy it, if not the only acceptable one. Edited: 22 July 2011, 3:23 p.m.
Re: HP wants to hear your 12c stories... - Laura (San Diego) - 07-22-2011 HP Can do that too. just send your thoughts/stories about the 15c to calcenthusiasts@hp.com
Re: HP wants to hear your 12c stories... - Laura (San Diego) - 07-22-2011 I think a 17bII+ is ideal for accountants. you can store all the typical accounting equations in the Solve menu. When I took accounting, I put ROE, ROA, RNOA, etc. in my calculator so I didn't have to remember the formulas.
