HP 67 card reader error - Mark Puscas - 07-11-2010 Looking for any troubleshooting suggestions... Recently got an HP-67, disassembled it, cleaned it, repaired gummy wheel (thanks to reading the forums on this site!); everything seems to work fine mechanically, but magnetic cards all give me an "error" reading. I've tried pre-programmed cards, blank cards, all give the same "error" message. I've tried writing to cards, and that seems to work (although no way to verify). I re-opened calculator, verified all the little white balls in place, white roller pin in place, gold weird-shaped contact switch is well-positioned, cleaned the read/write head (several times), all to no avail.
Any suggestions?
by the way, for the gummy wheel repair I got a 2 foot length of Du-Bro #222 Silicone fuel line tubing, purchased at a local shop that caters to remote controlled cars/planes. Fit and worked perfectly!

My HP-67 no longer stays up late at night wondering if there is a dog. Edited: 11 July 2010, 10:58 p.m.

Re: HP 67 card reader error - Alejandro Paz (Germany) - 07-12-2010 My 67 has the same problem, it does not read back what it writes. But I do not have a magnetic card here, and it badly needs some restoration and a back cover.
