Latest HP-35 with the "bugs"? - Michael de Estrada - 09-18-2009

We all know about the infamous "bugs" in the original HP-35, and HP's recall to remedy them. Still, many buggy HP-35s remain in circulation, and I wonder what is the lastest version/serial number that exists with this flaw, that is actually an asset to collectors. I just obtained an HP-35, version 2 with S/N 1249A08206 that is fully buggy, however, my version 3 with S/N 1302A52942 that I bought new in June 1973, already had the corrected ROM. So, someplace between those the manufacture of those two calculators, HP implemented the fix. I'd be interested to know what is the highest S/N version 2 that was buggy, and if there were any early version 3s that were buggy. Perhaps this has been discussed previously on this forum and I have missed it.

I have run across quite a few with the bug. The latest I have seen was 1230A. All were Type-2, dimple on the 5, 2-piece backbone. Most were 1143A.
