New Casio calculator - Bruce Bergman - 12-20-2008

Sorry for posting a non HP topic here, but since this was a recent conversation in several threads, I wondered if anyone knew anything about this new Casio calculator. It appears to be available only overseas, but I'm curious about it. Anyone have details?

Casio Alegbra 2.0 Calc

Here's a blurb from the Asia Casio site:

Bruce,

The Casio machine you mention is not a new model. I have bought one about 5 years ago.

Namir

Yeah, I just did some more searching and realized that. Interesting. Maybe it's "new" in the USA. ;-)

Still, kind of an interesting model. Too bad it didn't last long.

thanks!

What do you mean "it didn't last long"?It's one of Casio's current models. And it's quite nice, too.

Yes, it's still a current model:

Re: New Casio calculator - Bruce Bergman - 12-20-2008

Well, from what I've read, it had a problem with the flash memory running out pretty quick. Presumably running out of writes. I read a couple boards where it mentioned that the models which first came out are being returned because of defects in the flash memory.

Perhaps the newer model versions have resolved these issues. Hmmm, that might also explain why the sellers are referring to these as "new" even though the calc has been out a while...

thanks,
