HP-11C LCD display decay - Larry Gagnon - 05-11-2008

My wonderful, trusty 24 year old HP-11C which has given me many years of carefree service now has slight decay of the LCD panel. By decay I mean there are now pixels that appear permanently black (on) along a portion of the bottom centre of the panel and top left. It almost looks like worm tracks and as if some bug has eaten away at some of the LCD material.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so, are there any cures or fixes for such a problem?

In fact, the calculator is still usable as the black pixels are away from the main number sections of the LCD panel.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Larry

My wife's HP11C also had the LCD start failing. (Gee, after only 20 or so years.) I sent it out to be fixed (thank you fixthatcalc.com), but it ended up being a little pricey because the entire LCD has to be replaced.

But who wants to come between and engineer and her calculator?
