Windows XP connection to 48SX - Scott Larson - 12-23-2007

I have an HP48 I would like to use, and I have dusted off my serial interface kit to connect it to my Windows XP computer. I tried the kermit floppy that comes with the kit and also Windows hyperterminal program.

I seem to lack the knowledge to connect the calculator to the computer. Is there someone who can guide me through the steps? I have made sure both hyperterminal and calculator have same baud, parity, stop bit, and ASCI. I have tried sending the clock program to the calculator, but the calculator will not connect when I push "recv" soft key in I/O mode.

Thanks in advance,
Scott Larson

I use the newest Hp connectivity kit conn4x to connect to my HP 50G via USB and to my HP 48G via RS232/USB-Adapter. Both work well and easy under XP. No guidance needed, practically automatic.

AFAIK the 48SX is not supported by conn4x.

You should also make sure that flow control is set to "None" in Hyperterminal. I have just tried connecting my 48SX to Hyperterminal (under Windows 2000, shouldn't be much different from XP for that purpose) and transferring a simple program back and forth -- it worked.
